RAM's latest entry into its award-winning pickup line is rugged on the outside, but luxurious on the inside and offers a smooth ride on any terrain. With cutting-edge infotainment technology in the cabin, you can bet the 2022 RAM 1500 has everything you need for an enjoyable ride. Read on for an overview of the new truck and the different options available!

A Quick Overview

The 2022 RAM 1500 continues the brand's tradition of rugged capabilities with a slick, bold look that will turn heads. Across all trims, you won't find anything smaller than a 3.0 L V6. Even at standard level, the RAM 1500 still puts out an impressive 480 lb-ft of torque.  By default, the RAM 1500 comes in RWD, with 4WD optional in all but the HFE trim.  All trims use RAM's Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system.

Trim Comparison

The 2022 1500 lineup comes in 9 trims. Each trim comes with a variety of options, meaning you have a lot of choices in building your dream truck!

Tradesman Trim

For the entry-level trim, the Tradesman covers all your normal needs. However, RAM offers an array of upgrades to augment your new truck's capabilities. Options include a 5.7 L HEMI V8 upgrade to various towing packages in different configurations.  Even in its 3.0 L standard configuration, the Tradesman has more than enough power to get the job done. By default, this trim comes with a Class III bumper hitch.  Other extras include Level 1 Equipment and Level 1 Safety gear.

Standout Features:

  • Rain Brake Support: brake slippage is a thing of the past - as now your brakes will lightly apply periodically to dry themselves
  • Sirius Guardian: Help is just a button press away with instant access to emergency services and much more

Tradesman HFE Trim

The Tradesman HFE (High Fuel Efficiency) is a slimmed-down version of the 1500. The HFE reduces its features and has a simpler infotainment system as its built to be a fleet truck. Thanks to its lighter payload, the Tradesman HFE is capable of some impressive MPGs. The HFE typically clocks in at 23 city, 33 highway.

Big Horn/Lone Star Trim

The Big Horn and Lone Star are the same trim, albeit the Lone Star is exclusive to Texas. The Big Horn is the next step up from the Tradesman, featuring upgrades such as heavier duty shock absorbers and fog lights. The upgrades available to the Big Horn make this trim shine. The level 1 equipment group includes a Class IV hitch, power mirrors, power-adjusted pedals, and mirror turn signals.  The level 2 group comes with impressive features, such as remote start, automatic climate control, and heated seats.

Standout Features:

  • Infotainment Upgrade Options: The Big Horn's infotainment can be upgraded to an 8.4-inch screen with an attached media hub
  • On-Wheel Audio Controls: Keep your eyes on the road with easy-to-reach wheel-mounted audio controls

Laramie Trim

The Laramie builds off the Big Horn but with more attention paid to driver luxury. With a 5.7 L V8 by default, it can still certainly haul, though. Laramie's 8.4 touchscreen infotainment system will make setting up your playlist a breeze. If everyone wants to listen to their music on their phones, make it easier with in-truck Wi-Fi. The 9 speaker Alpine audio system can turn any RAM 1500 interior into your own personal concert hall.

The level 1 upgrade group includes useful features such as automatic high beams, enhanced parking sensors, and blind spot monitoring. The level 2 group adds a few cutting-edge features, such as a wireless charging pad and an impressive 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system!

Standout Features:

  • Apple and Android Support: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported on Laramie's 8.4-inch system
  • Harman Kardon Option: Take your commuting playlist to the next level with a 900-watt amplified Harman Kardon audio system

Limited Longhorn Trim

The Limited Longhorn builds on the luxury of the Laramie, including features such as automatic high beams and parking sensors. The limited comes with a larger default wheel size of 20 inches, with 22 inches available as a second option. The Limited Longhorn comes with built-in satellite navigation in its 8.4-inch default infotainment system. However, a larger 12-inch touchscreen is available as well. For added comfort, premium leather bucket seats are available as well. The level 1 equipment upgrade features an enlarged touch screen, a wireless charging pad, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

Standout Features:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control Option: Make your next highway drive less stressful with car-sensing adaptive cruise control
  • LED Bed Lighting: Keep an eye on your payload in the rainy dead of night with bright LED bed lights

Limited Trim

The Limited trim further builds on the luxury and utility of the Limited Longhorn by including several features as standard. The limited sets a high bar for the competition with power running boards, wireless charging, and a 12-inch Uconnect infotainment system. Did you know that the RAM truck brand turned ten in 2021? Special anniversary badging is available for the Limited trim! The level 1 equipment set comes with surround-view cameras, adaptive cruise control, and parking assistance.

Standout Features:

  • Surround View Camera Option: Never worry about parking your new beast with a 360-camera feed
  • 4 Corner Air Suspension: Even the roughest ride will feel gentle with a reactive high-performance air suspension

Rebel Trim

The Rebel is aptly named. This offroad-centric trim builds off the Big Horn and comes with a 3.7 L V6 standard but can be upgraded with a V8 Hemi. The Rebel comes equipped with 4x4 standard. The Rebel comes adventure-ready with higher ground clearance, skid plates, and heavier duty tires to boot. The Rebel inherits the Big Horn's infotainment and environment setup. Level 1 equipment includes power pedal adjustment, the 8.4-inch Uconnect system, and Sirius XM. Level 2 includes parking sensors and dual-zone climate control.

Standout Features:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking: Sweat less about potential collisions with automatic emergency braking
  • 33 Inch Tires: Dominate the great outdoors with the Rebel's 33-inch heavy-duty tires

TRX Trim

The TRX builds further off the Rebel but with a heavier focus on performance. With the 12-inch Uconnect system and 9-speaker Alpine audio by default, your next adventure will be even more enjoyable! The TRX's Bilstein Suspension includes seven driving modes to match any situation your find yourself in. With Rebel's 33-inch all-terrain tires, the TRX is genuinely ready for anything.  Level 1 upgrades include features such as leather bucket seats, surround-view cameras, and automatic wipers. Level 2 adds cutting-edge features such as remote start and integrated electronic trailer braking controls.

Standout Features:

  • A Hellcat Under the Hood: The TRX's 6.2 L Supercharged HEMI is capable of a whopping 702 horsepower
  • Changeable Suspension Modes: Quickly switch between one of seven modes to adapt to any situation
